I was skeptical upon hearing that these were the same as my favorite plush sheepskin boots, or even better. How could they be, for many times less? But I decided to try a pair...and I am SO glad I did! There actually ARE several things I prefer to the other, very expensive brand. They are as follows: My LAMO boots provide more support in the ankle area, as the suede is a bit thicker (but in no way uncomfortably stiff). Just nice and supportive and don’t bunch around my ankle like the expensive brand. The next thing is the colors. The outsole color actually matches the boot! This gives a much nicer monochrome look than, say, purple boots with a tan outsole! The suede also has even more of a sheen to it. The appearance of the Lamos is very velvety. Also, the color of the cloth piping is better coordinated to the boot color than the other brand. They are very comfortable to walk in, only slightly less so than the other ones, and I do mean slightly. I feel like someone should give me a double blind test, because I’m not 100% sure that I could correctly tell them apart lol. I will check in, as time goes by, to see if faux fluff holds up! The few downsides are these; My feet feel hot, when I wear these boots all day because they’re so comfortable. By later in the day though I am sweating in the boots. So rather than all day footwear, these boots are better to wear outside in winter and take off when you go indoors. So the convenience of not bringing a pair of indoor shoes is not there. Also, this particular Lamo style doesn’t have quite as much fur (I realize they are faux fur, but I think they should have even a little more (to compensate) in them. To be fair, I have heard that some of the styles have more fur in them than others. Overall, the faux fur works for me because of the price point. Another downside is that they don’t have half sizes. I size a half size down in the other brand, With these ones I have heard that they run small in other reviews. I swear when I read the Kohl’s reviews that was all I heard, that they arrived small and had to be returned. I’m normally a size 8 1/2 so I sized up to nine for this one because there was advice to size up, even from QVC who were promoting the brand. I am plus sized with pretty thick ankles, so I thought this would be a good idea. When my Lamos arrived, they were big enough to gape at the top (when I stand and walk), and my foot slides a bit at the bottom. I am nervous to get a pair in size 8 (1/2 size down), though, because I have a strong suspicion these are very true to size and what I really need is an 8 1/2.
Due to these few drawbacks, particularly the hot 🥵 feet thing, I am not going to give 5 stars but, don’t get me wrong, for the price, they are INCREDIBLE! I have always wanted to collect the other brand but had to limit myself to black and brown, so they would go with everything, sort of, and not get ruined like light colors. Now I can finally get a comfy boot to match all my outfits! I have already ordered 3 more pair of Lamos, in Burgundy, Forest, and Blue. I am trying different styles to see what works best....AND I CAN DO THAT NOW! I’m pretty much ecstatic to discover this brand!
P.S. I forgot to mention that I have bunions and I can’t feel any pain, whatsoever!
